Fitting Your Windows

Below is a guide on how to fit a pvc window

Note : The less damage you do taken out the old window the less work you have in making the new one good.

Step 1

Measure your new window to make sure it will fit

Than run a sharp knife around the inside of the window frame to break the plaster seal to the window

Remove the sashes

Remove the fixed pane of glass. If you have to break it than go to the inside and break it out wards so that this will reduce the amount of glass splinters inside

Cut out the mullion and transom bars with a saw

 Cut the bottom of the window with a saw

Than lift upwards to break it at the corners

Step 6

Wedge out the sides slowly with a chisel or bar

 Keep an eye on the inside for fixing brackets

If there is some break them with the chisel

Than pull the side upwards to break from head

Step 8

Pull the head downward at one side to lift out

Clean of any excess plaster that will stop your new window from sliding in

 Slide your new window in behind one reveal

Once your window is sitting fully on the cill

You than slide your window so that it is behind both reveals

Step 11

When you have your window in. You will than have to lift it about 5mm so that the top is behind the plaster on the head

 Fix the window now with expanding foam or new plaster

Plus now clip on the drip for bottom of the window this will now extend your window so that it steps around the cill

Step 13

 Finish around the out side with silcone to seal it from the weather

Plus you can also pack a sand and cement mix under the window to fully seal your new window to the cill

The inside can be finished with some patching plaster If some of the old plaster broke away
